Add Domain Tool

This is the way you add domains to your reseller account. There are 2 choices in this area: "Add Additional Domain" and "Add Parked Domain"

Add Additional Domain
What is an Additional Domain?
An additional domain is a new domain which is added under a different user name. It comes with its own Control Center, quotas, and package features, but is billed to the owner of the reseller master account.

Add Parked Domain
What is a Parked Domain?
A parked domain is an additional domain name that points to a domain you select as 'master' domain. Anyone going to a parked domain on the internet will go directly to the 'master' domain you indicate. It is registered with the Internic and allows two or more different names to point to the same site. This is useful for adding variations on a name - we have 8 parked domains ourselves, all variations on the name '5DollarHosting.com®'.

Adding Additional Domains
When you click this option you are taken to a mini-order screen. You have just a few fields to enter here: domain name, username, domain package and contract length. For the most part, everything else on this screen is filled in for you already from the information on file for your master reseller account.

Choosing a package
Resellers will see many packages available to them. They have different names, but are identical to our retail versions. The only difference is we have removed any Control Center icons that would put your client in direct contact with us (such as 'email support' and 'phone support').

Billing: How it Works
When you submit the resold domain order, your credit card is authorized and billed for the hosting fee with no setup charges. You charge your customer whatever you wish! We never see your end user's information - you are our customer.

For more information on the Reseller program in general, click here.

Adding a Parked Domain
The cost for this to you as a Reseller is $25 - a one-time setup fee. If you wish to charge your clients a monthly fee, you are free to do so of course! On this screen you will choose the master domain and then choose the new domain name that will point to it. Remember, the pointer will have no content, merely redirecting people to the master domain.

Virtual Name Servers

What are virtual name servers?

When someone does a WHOIS lookup on a domain, it returns information about where that domain is hosted. Listed are usually 2 nameservers and IP addresses for the servers responsible for handling that domain. When you become a reseller, you get the ability to create and use your own virtual nameservers. These would then show up in a WHOIS lookup and give the appearance that the client's domain is physically hosted at your domain. The format is generally: NS.YOURDOMAIN.COM and NS2.YOURDOMAIN.COM.

Registering your nameservers

Once you enable the virtual nameserver option in your Control Center, you will have both the primary and secondary nameserver and IP addresses. These need to be registered with the registrar you used for your initial domain registration. In addition, Network Solutions can be used regardless of what registrar your domain is entered with. There is no charge for a nameserver registration.

You can access the Network Solutions Host Registration form here. You will need to do one form for each nameserver (primary and secondary). If you have never entered a host record before, do not enter anything in the "Host NIC handle" area.

Assigning domains to the nameservers

When you order a resold domain, if you have the virtual nameserver option installed the domain will automatically be assigned to them in our system. When you register the domain for the client (or move it) you can use your primary and secondary nameservers with the registrar.

Changing MX Records

The Virtual Nameserver tool has one other function - you can alter the mail handling for one of your domains by changing the MX record. This is for experienced users only who wish to have a different server handle email for a particular domain. If you have questions about the MX record feature, please ask us before making changes.
