CuteFTP

Step 1: Create a listing for this site. Choose "File - Site Manager" to bring up the Site Manager screen. You should see something like this:

Step 2: Click "New" to create a new Site which will bring up the following screen:

- Enter a descriptive word or phrase inthe 'label' box (something to tell this group of settings apart from any others you may add)

- For "FTP Host Address" enter either yourdomain.com without the 'www' in front, or your numerical IP address.

- For 'FTP site User Name' enter the username you use to log into your Control Center (see your Welcome Letter).

- For 'FTP site Password' enter the current password in force for your Control Center.

- For 'FTP site connection port', leave this set to '21'. 'Login Type' should be left at 'Normal'.

Once connected, you will see 2 panes - one on the left which represents your computer, and one on the right (see above) that represents your web site account. When you first log in you will be at the "root" folder for your account.

DO NOT UPLOAD YOUR WEB SITE TO THE 'ROOT' FOLDER! THESE FILES WILL NOT BE VISIBLE TO ANYONE ON THE INTERNET! BE SURE TO UPLOAD ALL WEB FILES TO THE 'DOMAIN-WWW' OR 'WWW' FOLDERS.

To navigate to the different folders within your website, simply double-click the appropriate icons. Remember to upload your files into the -domain-www' or 'www' folders. NOTE: the 'www' folder is simpy a shortcut to the 'domain-www' folder and it is perfectly okay to upload to either one.

To upload files, you can simply click and drag from the left pane (your computer) to the right pane. Note that in the above example we are in the 'domain-www' folder.

When you drag the file(s) over, you will get a confirmation box similar to the above.

ADVANCED TOOLS

CuteFTP also allows you to perform advanced tasks such as change permission settings (CHMOD), delete, rename, or even move files. When you right-click a file in the right pane (the web server), you will see a dialog box similar to this:
