Setting
up virtual nameservers (OPTIONAL)
You
do not need to use private nameservers, but the option is there
for you. This will enable your own nameservers to appear in a
"WHOIS" lookup. Our nameservers are deliberately generic
so you are free to use them for your resold clients.
If
you would like to set up the private nameservers, here's how to
get started:
- Click on the "Virtual Nameservers" icon in your Control
Center and follow the directions to create your primary and secondary
nameservers.
- IMPORTANT: these nameservers are not live until you register
them with your registrar! Each registrar has differing procedures
for setting up new nameservers (sometimes referred to as host
records) based on your domain name.
- Once registered (allowing time for propagation), you can assign
your client's domains to your nameservers when registering or
moving their domain names.
- Note that registration of your nameservers at the registrar
can take several days, and is usually a longer process than registering
a regular domain name.
Modifying
the Control Center
Until
you add your first resold account you will not be able to customize
the resold account Control Center. When you have resold at least
1 domain, you will see a section at lower left called "subdomains".
Click any one of these and the next screen contains instructions
for modifying your Control Center. You can decide what text/logo
to display (like your company name instead of ours!), color scheme,
and more.
Adding
new accounts
Clicking
the "Add Domain" button gets you into the order form
for either parked or new accounts. When entering a new account,
keep in mind that you as the reseller will be billed for the fees.
Account setup is instant if paying by credit card - you will have
the resold domain account information in just a few minutes after
ordering! Your contact and billing information will show in our
records - we do not need or want to know the end user's information.
After all, you are our customer, not your client!
